The Wakery Design

The Wakery is Springfield, Illinois first non-alcoholic bar located in the heart of downtown! Owner, Elizabeth Wake, reached out to Alex and me to see if we’d be interested in helping her with her project and of course we said “Yes”!

This design is bold, whimsical and all-around fun! Our goal was not to just create a space, but an experience for the customers. Every time someone visits The Wakery, I want them to smile, to feel a sense of wonder and notice something they didn’t notice last time they were there.

There is a lot happening in this space—checkered floors, mixed eclectic light fixtures, DIY sconces, a mural on the wall and branches hanging from the ceiling. Listen, I know bold design isn’t for everyone, but I love it and I’m hoping the more bold designs you see from me inspires you to take a risk in your own spaces. Life’s too short for boring design!
