Velvet & Rosemary Fashion House

Velvet & Rosemary is another small business I own with my business partner, Aubrey Johnson. We launched it February of 2022 and haven’t looked back. God has blessed our small business so much. When we first started, we just did pop ups and social media sales. But in November of 2024 we launched the “Velvet & Rosemary Fashion House” inside Willow & Birch Salon downtown Springfield, IL. It is our pink palace that is unique gem in our town. It feels like you walked into a funky boutique in the heart of Nashville —and that’s exactly what we were going for. We love a good pair of cowboy boots, bolo ties and Midwest country concerts and so do our shoppers!

This was such a fun design to work on! We were on a budget and everything was a DIY project. The birdcage was already there and Jessica, owner of Willow & Birch Salon, was totally down to let me spray paint it pink. And by me, I mean my hubby, Alex.

I knew I wanted there to be a focal point under the birdcage, so I had Alex make a platform that I covered in peel and stick tile— the same trusty tile I used for my home office makeover a couple years ago. I bought these tiny disco ball-looking Christmas garlands and hung it to create a faux chandelier under the birdcage. There is so much to look at when you first walk in, but this center area commands your attention.

It’s all the little details and well, big details like our big pink pony that adds up to create a super fun space! If you haven’t been in to check it out yet, please do! We have a mix of new, vintage and preloved items with lots of accessories. There are two fitting rooms with velvet drapes for you to try on all the unique finds. Be sure to follow Velvet & Rosemary on Instagram. Tag us in your fits— we always love to see how you style your purchases!

I love working on commercial projects because I really get to let my imagination run wild and bring a brand to life. Having a brick and mortar location is such an opportunity for businesses— customers get to experience their brand in a tangible way. (Check out The Wakery remodel.)

If you own a business and are ready to make some upgrades, I’d love to set up an on-site consultation!

Be bold. Be you.
